As the grass-cutting season before Chuseok approaches, the fire department has issued a safety alert.

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, over the past five years in Jeju, one person died and 172 were injured during grass-cutting operations, with 85.6% of these incidents occurring between August and September, just before Chuseok.

The most common cause for 38.2% of accidents was machinery like grass trimmers, followed by physical strain and collisions during excessive work.

제주소방안전본부에 따르면
최근 5년 사이 제주에서
벌초작업 도중 안전사고로
1명이 숨지고 172명이 다쳤으며
이 가운데 85.6%가
추석을 앞둔 8월에서 9월 사이 집중됐습니다.

원인별로는
예초기 등 기계에 의한 사고가 38.2%로 가장 많았고,
무리한 작업으로 인한 신체적 요인, 부딪힘 등의 순으로 나타났습니다.
