The Jeju Autonomous Police is intensifying educational efforts to prevent illegal deepfake-related and illegal sex crimes, which have become recent societal issues.

The education will first be provided to students at three schools in the province where school safety officers are deployed, with plans to expand to other middle and high schools across the island.

The police emphasized that using smartphone applications to edit or synthesize photos or videos of others out of curiosity or for fun can constitute a criminal act. They will also educate students on preventative measures for new types of online crimes, such as online grooming.

자치경찰단은 특히 스마트폰 어플리케이션을 이용해 재미나 호기심으로 다른 사람의 사진이나 영상을 합성 가공할 경우 명백한 범죄 행위가 될 수 있는 점을 강조하는 한편 온라인 그루밍 등 새로운 유형의 성범죄 수법과 예방법을 교육할 예정입니다.
