Amid inflation and a prolonged economic slowdown, second-hand holiday gift trading is on the rise. Sellers can cash in on unused or unwanted gift sets, while buyers can get good deals on Chuseok gifts.


This trend has even led to the creation of a new term, “holiday-tech,” referring to making a profit by trading holiday items.

Since second-hand transactions are conducted between individuals and not between consumers and businesses, it’s difficult to receive compensation if problems arise. It’s crucial to carefully compare product information and finalize the purchase before making the transaction.

Due to large price fluctuations in holiday gift sets, consumers should exercise caution when making purchasing decisions.


A recent survey by the Korea Consumer Agency found significant price disparities for identical Chuseok gift sets sold at various large retailers. Even before discounts, prices varied by up to 25,000 won depending on the store.


This holiday season, the Korea Consumer Agency recommends that consumers do their homework when comparing discounts and product details, following the age-old principle of “buyer beware.”

주머니 사정이 팍팍해지면서
명절 선물의 개인 간 거래가
활발해지고 있는 것으로 풀이됩니다.

판매자는 선물 세트를 현금화할 수 있고
구매자는 저렴한 가격에
추석 선물을 구입할 수 있습니다.

이로 인해
명절 상품을 거래해 수익을 올린다는
명절테크라는 신조어까지 나오고 있습니다.

중고거래는 아무래도 개인 간 거래이기 때문에 일반 소비자와 사업자 거래가 아니기 때문에 피해가 발생했을 때 보상받기 어려운 부분이 있기 때문에 상품에 대한 정보를 꼼꼼히 비교해서 구매할 게 확정된 이후에 거래를 하는 게 가장 중요할 것으로 보입니다.

한국소비자원이
최근 추석 선물세트 가격을 조사한 결과
대형마트에서 판매하는 같은 상품임에도
할인 전 가격은 마트 별로
최소 2천500원에서 최대 2만 1400원의 차이를 보였습니다.

소비자원은
할인 정보와 구성품 등을 꼼꼼히 비교해 보고 구매할 것을 당부했습니다.
