Nearly 300,000 visitors, including returning residents and tourists, are expected to visit Jeju during the 7-day Chuseok holiday this year.

According to the Jeju Tourism Association, an estimated 297,000 people are expected to arrive from September 12 to 18, which is a 5.6% decrease compared to the same period last year.

The highest number of visitors, around 50,000, is expected on Sunday, the 15th, when the influx of visitors will peak.

The association explained that last year, the Chuseok holiday was followed by National Foundation Day, attracting more tourists, while this year, domestic flights have also decreased by 3.8%, leading to a decline in visitors.



추석 연휴 29만 7천명 제주로…전년보다 줄어

올해 추석 연휴 7일간 30만명에 가까운 귀성객과 관광객이 제주를 찾을 것으로 보입니다.

제주도관광협회에 따르면 12일부터 18일까지 예상 입도객은 29만 7천명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 5.6% 감소했습니다.

일자별로는 일요일인 15일에 가장 많은 5만명이 제주를 방문하면서 귀성과 관광 행렬이 절정에 이를 전망입니다.

협회는 지난해의 경우 추석 연휴와 개천절 연휴가 이어져 많은 관광객이 제주를 찾았고 올해는 국내선 항공편도 3.8% 감소해 방문객이 줄어들 것으로 예상했습니다.
