The number of employed people in Jeju has decreased for two consecutive months, casting a shadow over the labor market.

According to the Jeju Office of Statistics Korea, the number of employed people in the province last month was 402,000, down by 5,000 compared to the same month last year, continuing a downward trend for two months.

As a result, the employment rate dropped to 69.6%, down 0.5 percentage points from a year earlier.

By industry, employment in construction, wholesale and retail, lodging, and restaurants fell by 6,000, while the electricity, transportation, communications, and finance sectors saw a decrease of 3,000 jobs.



지난달 취업자 5천명 줄어…2개월 연속 감소

제주지역 취업자 수가 2개월 연속 감소하면서 고용시장에 먹구름이 끼고 있습니다.

통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달 도내 취업자는 40만 2천명으로 지난해 같은 달과 비교해 5천명 줄며 2개월 연속 감소세를 보였습니다.

이에 따라 고용률은 69.6%로 1년 전보다 0.5%포인트 하락했습니다.

산업별 취업자를 보면 건설업과 도소매, 숙박, 음식점업에서 각각 6천명 감소했으며 전기, 운수 통신, 금융업에서도 3천명 줄어든 것으로 나타났습니다.
