Over the past seven years, the number of students from migrant backgrounds in Jeju has more than tripled.


According to the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, as of April 1st, the number of students from migrant backgrounds in Jeju was 3,332, more than tripling compared to 1,190 in 2016.


Notably, the increase in children who entered the country later or those from foreign families was greater than the increase in children born domestically this year.

By region, 71% of the students were in Jeju City, while 28% were in Seogwipo City.

지난 7년 사이 제주지역 이주 배경 학생이
3배 이상 급증한 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주도교육청에 따르면 지난 4월 1일 기준으로 도내 이주배경학생은 3천 332명으로
지난 2016년 1천 190명과 비교해 3배 이상 증가했습니다.

특히 올해는 국내에서 출생한 학생보다
중도입국한 자녀와 외국인가정자녀의 증가폭이 큰 것으로 나타났습니다.

지역별로는 제주시 지역에 71%,
서귀포시 지역에 28% 비율을 나타냈습니다.
