The ferry service between Jeju and Yeosu(여수), South Jeolla Province, is facing suspension.

According to Yeosu(여수) City, Hanil(한일) Express, the operator of the route, has expressed its intention to return its transportation business license to the Yeosu(여수) Maritime Office due to accumulated losses from rising fuel costs and a decrease in passengers.

Hanil Express has been operating the 20,000-ton Gold Stella ship, capable of carrying 948 passengers and 250 vehicles, daily since 2015.

제주와 전남 여수를 오가는 여객선이 운항 중단 위기에 놓였습니다.

여수시에 따르면 제주와 여수를 운항하는 한일고속이 지난달 여수지방해양수산청에 운송 사업 면허 반납 의사를 밝혔습니다.

한일 고속은 유류비 증가와 승객 감소 등으로 누적 적자가 200억원에 달한다며 경영난을 운항 중단 사유로 제출한 것으로 나타났습니다.

한일고속은 지난 2015년부터 지난 2015년부터
여객 정원 948명에 차량 250대를 동시에 실어나를 수 있는 2만톤급 골드스텔라호를 하루 한 차례 운항해왔습니다.
