Han Kang Wins Nobel Prize in Literature, First for Korea
Han Kang, Author of ‘We Do Not Part, has become the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
On October 10th, the Swedish Academy announced that Korean author Han Kang received this year's Nobel Prize in Literature.
The Academy praised her work for confronting historical trauma and revealing the fragility of human life through her powerful poetic prose.
Han Kang first gained international recognition with book ‘The Vegetarian’, which won the 2016 Man Booker International Prize.
Last year, she also won France's prestigious Medicis Prize for ‘We Do Not Part’.
