Jeju Province and government agencies have established a new alliance to protect Jeju’s natural heritage.

The Province announced the signing of an MOU with the National Heritage Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Rural Development Administration, and the Korea Forest Service, aiming to enhance the protection and management of natural heritage while fostering regional coexistence.

This is the first collaborative alliance between the government and local governments focused on natural heritage.

The alliance will leverage the expertise of each agency to develop natural heritage protection plans, facilitate personnel exchanges, share policies and resources, and collaborate on education and public relations.

Previously, individual departments and local governments managed natural heritage according to their respective laws, often requiring coordination.

제주의 자연유산을 제대로 보호하기 위한
제주도와 정부기관 협의체가 출범합니다.

제주특별자치도는 국가유산청과 농림축산식품부, 농촌진흥청, 산림청과 업무협약을 체결하고
지역 상생과 자연유산 보호 관리 고도화에 나선다고 밝혔습니다.


자연유산을 중심으로 한
정부와 자지체의 협의체 구성은 이번이 첫 사례입니다.

협의체는 앞으로
각 기관의 전문성을 살려
자연유산 보호 관리 계획 수립과
상호 인적 교류, 정책과 자료 공유,
교육과 홍보 등을 협력할 예정입니다.

기존에는 정부 각 부처나 지자체가
소관 법률에 따라 각각 자연유산을 관리해 오면서
업무상 조율이 필요한 경우가 많았습니다.
