Seogwipo City has assigned 49 Vietnamese foreign seasonal workers to Wimi Agricultural Cooperative following their recent arrival in Jeju.

These workers will undergo safety training and tangerine harvesting practices before being deployed to farms needing labor for five months starting this month.

Seogwipo City, which expanded the public seasonal worker program to 79 workers across two cooperatives this year, plans to increase it to 100 workers across three cooperatives next year.

서귀포시가 최근 제주에 입국한 베트남 외국인 공공형계절근로자 49명을 위미농협에 배치했습니다.

이들은 감귤 수확 실습과 농작업 안전 교육을 받고 이달부터 5개월 동안 감귤 수확 등 일손이 필요한 농가에 투입하게 됩니다.

서귀포시는 공공형 계절근로사업의 만족도가 높은 것으로 확인돼 올해 2개 농협에 79명으로 사업을 확대했으며 내년에는 3개 농협 100명 규모로 진행할 예정입니다.
