Jeju Technopark has recently released 100 endangered dung beetles, a species classified as "Class 2 Endangered Wildlife," into the wild in Namwon-eup (남원읍).

The release site, a habitat restoration area in Shinrye-ri (신례리), was chosen for its excellent ecological environment, which provides optimal conditions for the beetles, with many insect species that feed on animal droppings.

Jeju Technopark has previously released three endangered species, including the two-spotted stag beetle, giant water beetle, and dung beetles, as part of 25 habitat restoration projects aimed at preserving local wildlife.

애기뿔소똥구리 100개체를 방사했습니다.

서식지 복원장소인 신례리 공동목장은
생태환경이 우수하고 방목지가 있어
동물의 배설물을 먹이로 하는 곤충들이 다수 확인되는 등 최적의 조건을 갖추고 있는 것으로 판단돼 정했다고 설명했습니다.

제주테크노파크는 지금까지 25차례의 서식지 복원을 위해 두점박이사슴벌레와 물장군 (Giant water beetle),
애기뿔소똥구리 등 3개종의 멸종위기 야생생물을 방사하고 있습니다.
