A final report meeting for the research project on transforming the aging Jeju Sports Facility into a comprehensive Sports Town was held on the morning of the 29th at the Jeju Welcome Center.

The research team from Chosun (조선) University, which conducted the study, presented three proposals:

A plan to build a mixed-use entertainment center that includes sports facilities, a hotel, and commercial facilities such as duty-free shops. A similar mixed-use entertainment center plan, excluding commercial facilities, and a plan to maintain only the sports town functions.

The first and second plans would require a massive budget of up to 8 trillion KRW, stressing the importance of attracting private investment.

Jeju Province plans to focus on one of the first two options and explore ways to attract private capital for the project.

스포츠 시설과 호텔, 면세점 등 상업시설이 포함된 복합 엔터테인먼트 센터를 건립하는 안과

스포츠 타운 기능만 유지하는 안 3개 안을 제시했습니다.

다만 1안과 2안의 경우
최대 8천억 원의 막대한 예산이 투입되는 만큼
민간 자본 유치가 필요하다고 설명했습니다.

제주도는
1안 또는 2안에 중심을 두고
자본 유치 방안을 모색할 방침입니다.
