Archery Inspiring Jeju Youth

After practicing with the bowstring, they begin using actual bows.

Like national archery team members, the students shoot their arrows toward the target with confidence.

It’s my first time trying archery today, and it was fun doing it with my friends. The instructors taught us so well, and I really loved archery right away.

The Hyundai Department Store archery team, who are currently training in Jeju, spent a day teaching archery to local students.
Interacting with the children, the athletes fondly recalled their early archery experiences as they carefully explained the key points to remember when drawing the bowstring.

Korean archery is the best in the world, but it’s not easy for kids in our country to experience it. So we find significant meaning in providing opportunities like this for children to try archery.

Since last year, the Hyundai Department Store archery team has been promoting archery by visiting schools in Jeju and sharing their expertise.

We applied for this because it’s a great way to provide new opportunities for the kids. After actually experiencing it, it turned out to be even better than expected.


Above all, participating students had a chance to witness the dedication and hard work of the archers firsthand, fostering a deeper appreciation of the sport.



양궁의 매력…'온몸으로 느껴요'


일렬로 늘어선 학생들이 고무줄을 당겼다 놨다를 반복합니다.

활을 잡기 전 훈련으로 선생님의 지도에 사뭇 진지한 표정을 짓습니다.

활시위를 당기는 훈련이 끝나자 직접 활을 들어봅니다.

딱 펴고 왼팔 펴고 좋아 볼에 붙일게요. 더 이렇게 붙여야지.

마치 국가대표 양궁 선수라도 된 과녘을 향해 지체없이 활을 날립니다.

오늘 양궁 처음 해보는데 친구들과 하면서 재미있었고 선생님들이 더욱 잘 가르쳐 주셔서 너무 양궁이 첫번째로 좋았어요.

전지 훈련 중인 제주연고팀인 현대백화점 선수들이
제주 학생들을 위해 1일 양궁 교사로 나섰습니다.

활시위를 당길 때 주의 사항 등을 꼼꼼히 알려주며 선수들은
아이들과 함께 처음 활을 당겼던 그 시절로 돌아갔습니다.

한국 양궁이 세계 최고인데 우리나라 어린이들이 양궁을 체험하기가 쉽지 않거든요. 이렇게 양궁을 체험할 수 있는 기회를 마련한다는 거에도 저희는 큰 의미를 두고 있고요.


현대백화점 선수들은 지난해부터 양궁의 매력을 알리기 위해
제주학교를 찾아 재능기부에 나서고 있습니다.

아이들한테 새로운 기회를 제공할 수 있는 것만으로도 굉장히 좋아서
신청을 했는데 진짜 체험을 해보니 더 좋더라고요.


무엇보다 참가한 어린 학생들은 선수들의 땀과 눈물의 의미를 몸소 체험하며 양궁과 좀 더 가까워지는 계기가 됐습니다.
