Reports of counterfeit or substandard food products in Jeju City have seen a significant increase.

According to Jeju City, 180 complaints were received this year through the Food Safety Reporting Center (No. 1399), marking a 15% increase compared to last year.

Among the reported issues, foreign objects in food were the most common, with 64 cases, followed by concerns about sanitation and expired consumption dates.

In response, Jeju City conducted on-site investigations and penalized 33 businesses that violated the Food Sanitation Act with administrative measures.
