Over 1,000 abandoned houses that have been uninhabited for over a year have been identified in Jeju.

According to the Province, there are currently 1,159 abandoned houses in the region, which is a 34.4% increase compared to five years ago.

The distribution of these abandoned houses is notably higher in rural areas. Hangyeong-myeon (한경면) had the highest percentage at 9.5%, followed by Hanlim-eup (한림읍), Aewol-eup (애월읍), Daejeong-eup (대정읍), and Seongsan-eup (성산읍).

Regarding the condition of the houses, 73% were categorized as grade 2 houses, which can be utilized after safety measures and repairs. Grade 1 houses, which are ready for immediate use, accounted for 10%, while 17% were deemed grade 3 houses that need to be demolished.

Based on the results of the survey, Jeju plans to commission the Jeju Research Institute to develop a plan for managing these abandoned houses.

제주특별자치도에 따르면
현재 도내 방치된 빈집은 모두 1,159호로
5년 전보다 34.4% 증가했습니다.

특히 읍면 지역 빈집 분포도가 높았는데
한경면이 9.5%로 가장 많았고
한림읍, 애월읍, 대정읍, 성산읍 순으로 많았습니다.

빈집의 상태는
안전 조치와 수리 후에 활용 가능한 2등급 빈집이 73%로 가장 많았고
바로 사용 가능한 1등급은 10%,
철거해야 하는 3등급 빈집은 17%로 조사됐습니다.

제주도는
이번 실태 조사 결과를 토대로
제주연구원에 용역을 의뢰해
빈집 정비 계획을 수립할 계획입니다.
