The Coast Guard will strengthen safety management for ferry passengers during the Lunar New Year holiday period.

The Coast Guard expects a rise in ferry passengers this year, as the demand for air travel is anticipated to decrease. To ensure safety, the Coast Guard will focus on cracking down on overloading and overbooking of passenger ships, and will also conduct preventive inspections to avoid accidents such as ship collisions or engine malfunctions.

Last year, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the average daily number of ferry passengers was about 11,000, marking an increase of 44% compared to normal times.
