Jeju Employment Drops 5,000

Last month, the number of employed people in Jeju decreased for the seventh consecutive month, signaling a prolonged stagnation in the labor market.

According to the Jeju Office of Statistics, the number of employed people in Jeju last month was 396,000, down by 5,000 compared to the same time last year, marking a seven-month decline since July of last year.

The drop in employment was particularly significant in certain industries, with the construction sector losing 8,000 jobs and retail, accommodation, and food services losing 3,000, reflecting the ongoing sluggishness in the domestic economy and construction market.

The employment rate last month stood at 68.5%, down 0.7 percentage points compared to the same month last year.

지난달 제주지역 취업자 수는 39만 6천명으로
1년 전과 비교해 5천명 줄며
지난해 7월부터 7개월 연속 감소세를 기록했습니다.

산업별 취업자 감소폭을 보면
건설 경기 침체와 내수 부진이 길어지면서
건설업 8천명과
도소매, 숙박. 음식점업 3천명 등
관련 산업에서 취업자 감소세가 이어졌습니다.

지난달 고용률은 68.5%로
지난해 같은 달과 비교해 0.7%포인트 하락했습니다.
