Relationship-related crimes, including domestic violence, continue to persist in Jeju.

According to the Jeju Police Agency, over the past three years, there have been approximately 10,000 cases of domestic violence reported on the island, with more than 3,000 cases occurring annually.

Reports of child abuse have shown a declining trend, dropping from 528 cases in 2022 to 480 cases last year.

However, dating violence has been on the rise, with 1,377 cases in
2022, 1,412 in 2023, and 1,522 last year. As a result, Jeju recorded the second-highest number of dating violence reports per 100,000 people nationwide in 2023.

In response, the Jeju Police plan to strengthen victim protection measures and enhance efforts to combat relationship-related crimes.

제주에서 가정폭력 등 관계성 범죄가
여전히 끊이지 않는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주경찰청에 따르면
최근 3년 사이 제주에서 발생한 가정폭력은
1만여 건으로
해마다 3천 건 넘게 발생하고 있습니다.

지난 2022년 528건이던 아동학대 신고건수는
지난해 480건에 그치면서
전체적으로 감소세를 보이고 있습니다.

반면 연인을 상대로 한 교제폭력의 경우
지난 2022년 1천 377건,
2023년 1천 412건, 지난해 1천 522건으로 해마다 늘면서
지난해 인구 10만명당 교제폭력 신고건수가
전국에서 두번째로 높은 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주경찰은
피해자 보호조치를 강화하는 한편
관계성 범죄에 대한 대응을 강화할 방침입니다.
