Jeju Province is intensifying its crackdown on illegally operated rental cars registered in other regions as part of efforts to establish a fair and regulated rental car market.

Ahead of the peak spring tourist season, authorities are implementing measures to prevent the illegal operation of rental cars registered outside Jeju.

In particular, when a rental car's primary registration is transferred to another region, companies will be required to submit documents, such as a certificate of vehicle export, to verify the transfer. This measure aims to strengthen efforts to identify and prevent illegal operations.

Jeju Province plans to impose administrative penalties, including partial business suspensions, on companies found violating the regulations. Additionally, the provincial government will notify the relevant authorities in the region where the vehicle is registered and, if necessary, refer the case to the police for further investigation.
