Starting next month, the accumulation rate for Jeju’s regional currency Tamnaneunjeon (탐나는전), will be increased to 15%, the highest rate since its introduction. The monthly accumulation cap per person will also be adjusted from 700,000 KRW to 2,000,000 won. The Province says the move aims to boost local consumption.

Jeju Expanding Rewards of Local Currency
To boost consumption in Jeju, the discount benefits of (탐나는전) Tamnaneunjeon are being significantly expanded.

For three months, from April to June, if payments are made at franchise stores with annual sales of 1 billion won or less, the accumulation rate will increase from the current 10% to 15%.
For every 10,000 won spent, users will receive 1,500 won in points.
Additionally, the monthly accumulation limit per person will be raised from 700,000 KRW to 2,000,000 won.
As a result, users can receive up to 300,000 won in points each month, which can be used like cash at Tamnaneunjeon affiliate stores.

Expanding the Tamnaneunjeon accumulation benefits to 15% will require approximately 3.8 billion won per month.
Jeju plans to secure around 11 billion won in necessary funds for the three-month period through a supplementary budget next month.

During last year's Chuseok holiday, when the Tamnaneunjeon accumulation rate was temporarily increased to 14%, the average monthly spending surged.
