In connection with a pipe damage incident at the Jeju Naval Base, Seogwipo City has filed a complaint against the Navy with the Autonomous Police.

The city stated that it reported the Navy base unit earlier this month, citing a potential violation of the Soil Environment Conservation Act, as the leak and contamination incident was reported to authorities only after 40 days had passed.

The incident occurred in January when a steel pipe about 10 centimeters in diameter was damaged, resulting in odor and leakage. Sample analysis revealed contamination levels more than four times higher than safety standards.

However, the Navy did not notify Seogwipo City until mid-February, sparking criticism over the delayed reporting.

이달 초 자치경찰에 해군 기지전대를 고발했다"고 밝혔습니다.

지난 1월, 해군기지에서 지름 약 10cm의 철제 배관 일부가 파손돼 악취와 누수가 발생했고
시료 분석 결과 안전 기준에 네 배가 넘는 오염 수치가 확인됐습니다.

하지만 사고 발생 40일이 지난 2월 중순이 돼서야
서귀포시에 알리면서 지연 신고 논란이 불거졌습니다.
