Jeju’s number of births rose last year for the first time in a decade.

Statistics Korea says Jeju recorded 3,285 births last year, up 4 percent from a year earlier. It marks the first increase since 2015.
Accordingly, the total fertility rate, the average number of children a woman is expected to have over her lifetime, increased by 0.04, rising from 0.83 to 0.87.

The national data authority analyzed that the birth rate has increased due to factors such as a rise in the population of people in their early 30s, who are the primary age group for marriage and childbirth.

지난해 제주지역 출생아 수가 10년 만에 증가한 것으로 나타났습니다.

2015년 이후 10년 만에 증가세를 기록했습니다.

이에 따라
여성 1명이 평생 낳을 것으로 예상되는
자녀의 수인 합계출산율은
0.83명에서 0.87명으로 0.04명 증가했습니다.

혼인과 주출산 연령대인 30대 초반 인구 증가 등의 영향으로
출산율이 높아진 것으로 분석했습니다.
