Jeju Province has been selected as a final site for a public sanitary pad support pilot program promoted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

According to Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Han-kyu(김한규), 32 regions across the country applied for the project. Among them, 12 locations, including Jeju, were selected.

Once the program initiates, sanitary product dispensers will be installed at major public facilities such as community centers and public libraries. The products will be available free of charge.

Jeju Province already provides menstrual product purchase subsidies for vulnerable female adolescents.

With the new pilot project, the number of beneficiaries is expected to expand significantly.

제주를 포함해 전국에서 12곳이 확정됐습니다.

사업이 시행되면
주민자치센터나 공공도서관, 복지관 등
지역 내 주요 공공시설에
생리용품 지급기가 설치되며 누구나 자유롭게 이용할 수 있게 됩니다.

제주도는
취약계층 여성 청소년을 대상으로
생리용품 구매지원금을 사업을 추진하고 있는 가운데
이번 시범사업으로
수혜대상이 크게 확대될 전망입니다.
