Despite countermeasures and prevention efforts, fraud crimes impersonating public institutions have exceeded 80 cases this year.

Meanwhile, the per capita damage cost is also on the rise.
According to the Jeju Police Agency, 81 voice phishing cases were reported in Jeju through May, with total damages reaching 3.4 billion won.

More than 60 percent of victims were aged 50 or older. The average loss per victim reached 80 million won, up nearly 20 percent from last year.

Scammers are constantly adapting new tricks including issuance of credit cards that were not asked for, and pitching low-interest loans. The police are urging the public to remain especially vigilant.

제주경찰청에 따르면
5월까지 제주에선 보이스피싱 사기 범죄가 81건 발생했고
피해금액은 34억 원으로 파악됐습니다.

기관사칭형 사기 피해자의 60% 이상은
50대를 넘긴 고령층이었고
1인당 피해 금액은 8천만 원으로
지난해 보다 20% 가까이 증가했습니다.

경찰청은
최근 들어 신청하지 않은 카드가 발급됐다거나
저금리 대환 대출이 가능하다고 속여
금품을 노리는
신종 수법이 잇따르고 있다며 각별한 주의를 당부하고 있습니다.
