The Jeju Institute of Health and Environment reported the first detection this year of Vibrio bacteria in seawater near the coast of Hallim (한림).

However, officials said no cases have been reported in Jeju so far, adding that they are strengthening surveillance efforts in cooperation with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

Vibrio vulnificus infections occur most frequently between August and October and have a fatality rate of around 50 percent, prompting health authorities to urge extra caution during the summer months.

8월에서 10월 사이에 가장 많이 발생하며
치명률이 50% 안팎으로 알려져 있어
여름철 각별한 주의가 요구되고 있습니다.
