With the summer vacation season underway, the Jeju branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service will carry out intensive crackdowns on livestock labeling violations through the end of this month.

Targets of the crackdown include livestock retailers, restaurants, and meat restaurants. Authorities will crack down on businesses that sell imported meat as domestic, mislabel, fail to display origin information, or do not keep required purchase receipts.

Authorities will use a cyber enforcement team to monitor online shopping malls and food delivery apps in advance, and will actively use origin verification test kits during on-site inspections.

Under related laws, falsely labeling a product's origin can result in a prison sentence of up to seven years or a fine of up to 100 million won.

단속 대상은
축산물 판매업소와 관광지 주변 음식점과 정육식당 등으로
외국산을 국내산으로 판매하거나
원산지를 혼동, 위장 판매 또는 아예 표시하지 않는 경우,
영수증을 보관하지 않는 행위 등입니다.

사이버단속반을 활용해
온라인 쇼핑몰이나 배달앱 등을 사전 모니터링하고
현장 단속 과정에 원산지 판별 검정 키트를 적극 사용할 계획입니다.

한편, 원산지를 거짓 표시할 경우
관련 법에 따라 7천 이하 징역이나
최대 1억 원의 벌금이 부과될 수 있습니다.
