Rain cools off island
First precipitation in nearly three weeks

The Tuesday afternoon rain offered some respite from the heat wave that had gripped the island for nearly three weeks.

According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, a North Pacific high pressure system kept the mercury high Monday. Afternoon highs were above 30 island-wide, and they hit 34.1 degrees in (표선면) Pyoseon-myeon.

A trough of low pressure from the southwest brought rain and wind Tuesday late afternoon.

Thirty to 80 millimeters of rain are forecast for most areas through the end of Wednesday.

It was the first rainfall in 19 days, since the official end of the rainy season. The precipitation pulled the mercury down about two degrees - afternoon highs Tuesday hovered around 29 or 30.

내일 오후부터 비...무더위 점차 누그러져

제주지역에 보름 넘게 이어진 무더위는 내일오후부터 비가 내리며 다소 주춤하겠습니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면 북태평양 고기압의 영향을 받으며 오늘 낮 최고기온도 표선면이 34.1도까지 오르는 등 30도가 넘는 무더위가 이어졌습니다.

내일은 남서쪽에서 다가오는 기압골의 영향으로 바람과 함께 늦은 오후부터 비가 내리겠습니다.

강수량은 모레까지 30에서 70mm를 기록하겠고 지역별로 강수량의 차이가 크겠습니다.

이번 비는 장마 이후 19일 만에 내리는 것으로 이로 인해 내일 낮 최고기온이 29도에서 30도로 오늘보다 1에서 3도가량 내려가며 더위가 주춤하겠습니다.
