178,000 tourists expected for Liberation Day weekend
3.3% fewer than last year

The island will welcome over 178,000 tourists over the upcoming Liberation Day long weekend.

That four-day projection by the Jeju Provincial Tourism Association is for August 13th to the 16th. The estimate is 3.3 percent fewer than last year's total.

The association attributes the decrease to international and domestic flight cancellations due to the mainland MERS outbreak.

During the period, over 90 percent of flight seats are reserved, 80 percent of local hotel rooms are booked, and 90 percent of rental cars are spoken for.

오는 13일부터 시작되는 광복절 연휴기간 17만 8천여 명의 관광객이 제주를 찾을 전망입니다.

제주특별자치도관광협회는 오는 13일부터 16일까지 나흘동안 제주를 찾는 관광객은 지난해보다 3.3퍼센트 감소한 17만 8천여 명으로 전망하고 있습니다.

관광협회는 메르스 영향으로 국제선 직항노선이 줄어들고 일부 여객선 운항이 중단되면서 지낸해보다 제주를 찾는 관광객이 다소 줄어들 것으로 내다봤습니다.

한편, 이 기간 동안 항공편 예약률은 90퍼센트를 넘어섰고 관광호텔 80퍼센트, 렌터카 90퍼센트를 기록하고 있습니다.
