Kim Jae-yun appeals to Supreme Court
Seoul High Court sentenced him to 4-year prison term for bribery

One of Jeju’s representatives at the National Assembly has appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn his four-year prison sentence for taking bribes in exchange for favors.

New Politics for Alliance representative (김재윤) Kim Jae-yun was found guilty of taking cash in return for help passing a bill.

In his first appeal, Seoul High Court's fourth criminal division actually added one year to the original three-year sentence he had received in the first case. It also fined him 60 million won and ordered him to forfeit an additional 54 million won. That decision was handed down on August 7th.

That is the decision Kim is trying to get overturned at the Supreme Court.

According to the State Public Officials Act, Yun will have to give up his legislative seat if the Supreme Court upholds the sentence.

앞서 서울고등법원 형사4부는 지난 7일 특가법상 뇌물 혐의로 기소된 김재윤 의원에 대한 항소심에서 징역 4년에 벌금 6천만원, 추징금 5천 400만원을 선고했습니다
