The provincial water office allegedly released falsified information on the reservoir-to-housing water delivery ratio and the leakage ratio for water traveling through pipes. Angry is brewing because critics say the office boosted water rates based on the fabricated statistics.

Seoul only recently made August 14th a temporary holiday, and the last-minute decision has created a lot of confusion. Jeju District Court has had to reschedule trials and hospitals are getting complaints from patients who will be charged extra because of the holiday.

The provincial government has stated that it wants to bury power cables around the island in order to improve the landscape. The Jemin Ilbo is pointing out that the project is not mentioned in the most current proposed plans by the national or provincial governments.

Authorities have received 260 complaints this year about bad odors around livestock farms. Also, people who live near construction sites say the noise and dust annoy them. The paper says something must be done about these problems as soon as possible.

Renault Samsung Motors is recalling nearly 400,000 cars sold in South Korea for loose engine mounts that may cause excessive noise. The recall affects the SM3 compact and the SM5 sedan.
