Goni leaves island unscathed
Conditions to noticeably improve Wednesday

This year’s 15th major storm system left Jeju relatively unscathed.

According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, Goni has shrunk to medium-sized storm and was about 200 kilometers southwest of Busan early Tuesday afternoon. It was moving north northeast at 38 kilometers per hour. Goni is expected to become an extratropical cyclone on Wednesday.

Authorities issued a typhoon watch for mid-slope areas and all coastal waters on Monday. They lifted the watch for land at noon on Tuesday, when they issued a high seas watch.

No flooding or wind damage was reported.

Meanwhile, forecasters say it will be cloudy on Wednesday. Afternoon highs are expected to range from 26 to 28, while, out on the water, swells will gradually diminish to between one and two-and-a-half meters.

태풍 피해 없이 지나가...태풍 특보 해제

제15호 태풍 고니가 제주에 별다른 피해를 주지 않고 빠져나갔습니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면 태풍은 현재 세력이 약화돼 중형 태풍으로 부산 남동쪽 200㎞ 해상에서
시속 38㎞ 속도로 북북동진하고 있으며 36시간 이내에 온대저기압으로 변질될 것으로 예상됩니다.

이에따라 산간과 육상에 발효됐던 태풍특보는 낮 12시를 기해 모두 해제됐고 해상의 태풍특보도 풍랑주의보로 대치됐습니다.

특히 태풍으로 인한 침수피해나 강풍피해는 접수되지 않는 등 별다른 피해 없이 지나간 것으로 파악되고 있습니다.

내일 제주지방은 가끔 구름 많은 가운데 낮 기온은 26도에서 28도의 분포를 보이겠고,
바다의 물결도 1에서 2.5미터로 점차 낮아질 것으로 예보됐습니다.
