The 3rd Asia Cruise Forum has begun. One of the topics being discussed this year is the proposed creation of a new cruise route between Jeju and North Korea, which we just heard about. Lee Heejung joins me in the studio with details.

Korea’s one and only global cruise forum… the Asia Cruise Forum Jeju… begins on Wednesday (August 26) and will last three days at the Jeju Shilla Hotel.
The event has cemented its position as Asia’s premier gathering of cruise experts and government officials to discuss ways to develop the cruise industry.
This year’s forum is the third of its kind and is being attended by delegates from 9 countries including Korea, China and Hong Kong. Some 1,200 industry experts and officials are taking part this year.

Topics: Cruise tourism development, boosting local economy
The slogan for this year’s forum is “Asia Cruise Tourism and Common Prosperity”.
Alan Buckelew, COO of Carnival Corporation will deliver the keynote speech and participants will discuss ways to develop the cruise industry and spur the local economy.

Asia Cruise Awards
Members will also discuss creating a new cruise route from Jeju to North Korea as part of efforts to promote peace in Northeast Asia… and for the first time this year, the Asia Cruise Awards will be awarded to those who have contributed greatly to the growth of the industry.
