Local officials hope to pique interest of Chinese soccer fans

Chinese arrivals plummeted in the wake of the mainland MERS outbreak, but local officials hope an upcoming soccer game will help rejuvenate that important part of the local tourism industry.

The provincial government and the Jeju Tourism Organization are hosting a friendly match between Jeju United and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua on September fifth. The game will be in Seogwipo at the World Cup Stadium, and kick-off is set for 7 p.m.

It will be quite a big event. Local officials have also planned a concert in conjunction with the match, and they will be running a signature campaign in support of Jeju’s bid to host some of the games in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

메르스로 침체된 중국인 관광객 유치를 위한 제주와 중국의 친선축구경기가 진행됩니다.

제주 개최를 위한 도민 서명운동도 전개할 계획입니다.
