Chinese arrivals rise, flights back to normal
About 6,000 per day this month

Chinese arrivals are again on the rise this month, after a sharp drop in the wake of the mainland MERS outbreak.

According to the Jeju Provincial Tourism Association, 149,000 Chinese had visited through Wednesday. That works out to about 6,000 per day.

That’s more than twice the daily average of two to three thousand that visited in July, when fears of the outbreak were still fresh.

Flights are back to normal, too, in order to accommodate the tourists. There are more than 200 flights on 13 Jeju-China routes this month. Last month there were just 100 flights on 11 routes.

중국인 관광객 증가…항공편도 정상화

메르스 여파로 급감했던 중국인 관광객들이 이달 들어 다시 늘어나고 있습니다.

제주도관광협회에 따르면 이달들어 어제(26일)까지 제주를 찾은 중국인 관광객은 14만 9천여 명으로 하루 평균 6천여명에 이르고 있습니다.

이같은 관광객수는 메르스 여파가 미친 지난달의 하루평균 2 ~ 3천명에 비해 두배 이상 늘어난 것입니다.

중국인 관광객의 회복세에 힘입어 제주와 중국을 오가는 항공편도 지난달 11개 노선 100여 편에서 이달들어 13개 노선에 200 여 편으로 증가했습니다.
