Local variety of eyebrights discovered on Halla Mountain
‘Euphrasia coreana W. Becker’ found at elevation of 1,700 m

A new colony of an indigenous variety of eyebrights were found at an elevation of 1,700 meters.

The small plant with violet flowers grows in relatively shaded areas around bushes. This specific variety of the annual herb is found only on Hallasan Mountain.

This is the first discovery of a group of this plant since the island launched a restoration project for native vegetation on the mountain.

The Hallasan National Park Office says it will systematically research the plant and use it in that project.

제주특산식물 '깔끔좁쌀풀' 군락 발견

한라산 해발 1천 700고지 주변에서 제주특산식물인 '깔끔좁쌀풀' 군락이 발견됐습니다.

깔끔좁쌀풀은 풀숲의 반그늘에서 자라는 1년생 초본으로 세계에서 유일하게 한라산에서만 자생하고 있습니다.

특히 이번처럼 군락으로 발견된 것은 한라산 식생 복원 사업을 진행한 이후 처음입니다.

한라산국립공원 관리사무소는 이번에 발견된 깔끔좁쌀풀의 생태를 체계적으로 연구해 자생식물 복원에 활용하기로 했습니다.
