Fishing boat capsizes
The 9.7-ton (돌고래) Dolgorae capsized after departing (신양) Shinyang Port Saturday at 7:44 p.m. It was headed toward (남성) Namseong Port in (해남군) Haenam-gun, Jeolla Province. Ten deaths have been confirmed and at least eight people are still missing.

‘Crew ignored safety concerns’
The Jeju office of the Ministry of Public Safety and Security says that the (돌고래) Dolgorae kept sailing, while another fishing vessel that had previously departed turned back to port because of the bad weather.

National Assembly won’t audit province this year
Local officials use the National Assembly’s annual audit of the provincial government to convince Seoul to allocate more national funding to local projects. There will be no national inspection this year, though, so the Jemin Ilbo says officials will struggle to get more money for next year.

Shops in Tapdong E-Mart at crisis
The shops on the third, fourth and fifth floors of E-Mart in Tapdong are in danger of being closed down. The firm that owns the floorspace for 60 percent of them has defaulted on power and water bills, and both services are expected to be cut next month.

10 killed, at least 8 missing
The Halla Ilbo is reporting on the Dolgorae. It says the official list of people on board was wrong - some that were listed as being on the ship weren’t, while other were aboard who weren’t identified as being so.

50 minutes wasted
The Dolgorae’s sister ship contacted authorities 50 minutes after it failed to contact the vessel. The paper says more people could have been saved if that report had been made sooner.

Yonhap

Koreas hold talks on family reunions
Yonhap is reporting that South and North Korea held working-level talks on Monday to arrange the reunions of families separated by the Korean War. The meeting was held at the truce village of Panmunjom.

2. Politics
Park calls for compromise on labor reform
President Park Geun-hye called Monday for a compromise on reforming South Korea's rigid labor market to create jobs for young people. She noted that time is running short for a deal.
