FIFA inspectors tour Seogwipo facilities Tuesday
City seeking to host matches during 2017 U-20 World Cup

FIFA representatives arrived on the island Tuesday to inspect area facilities ahead of venue selection for the 2017 U-20 World Cup, which Korea will host.

The survey group has 14 members, including FIFA senior competitions manager Rhiannon Martin and the vice president of the Korea Football Association, (김동대) Kim Dong-dae.

Seogwipo representatives gave them a briefing on what the city has to offer Tuesday morning at the Jeju World Cup Stadium. The inspectors then toured the stadium, practice facilities, hotels, and other accommodations.

The event organizing committee is surveying nine candidate venues. It will announce the six that will host the 2017 games on September 22nd at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

리아논 마틴 FIFA실사단장을 중심으로 한 실사단이 내일(8일) 서귀포시를 찾아 2017 FIFA 20세 이하 월드컵 개최 도시 선정을 위한 실사를 진행합니다.

FIFA 실사단은 리아논 마틴 FIFA 대회총괄 팀장과 대한축구협회 김동대 부회장 등 모두 14명으로 꾸려졌습니다.

이들은 내일 오전 제주월드컵경기장에서 서귀포시 준비단으로부터 브리핑을 듣고 경기장과 훈련장, 호텔 등 주변 시설 현장 답사에 나섭니다.

FIFA U-20 월드컵조직위는 제주를 비롯해 9개 후보 도시에 대한 실사를 마치고 오는 22일 스위스 취리히 FIFA 본부에서 최종 대회 개최 도시 6군데를 발표할 예정입니다.
