Dolgorae recovered Wednesday
Investigators will inspect boat at Shinyang Port

The Dolgorae was salvaged Wednesday, four days after the fishing boat capsized.

The Jeju office of the Ministry of Public Safety says a barge equipped with a large crane was brought Wednesday afternoon to the Chuja Island waters where the boat overturned, and that it was able to pull the vessel to shore.

A lack of major damage on the bottom of the hull has some investigators saying it could have been high waves that overturned it.

Authorities will transport the Dolgorae to (신양) Shinyang Port in Upper Chuja Island for a thorough examination to determine the cause of the wreck and see if there is any evidence that the boat’s structure had been modified in some way.

돌고래호 사고 5일만에 인양…원인 조사 본격

전복된 낚싯배 돌고래호가 사고 닷새만에 인양됐습니다.

해경은 오늘 오후 대형 크레인을 실은 바지선을 추자도 사고 현장에 투입해 순조롭게 인양작업을 마쳤다고 밝혔습니다.

인양된 돌고래호는 밑바닥이 충돌하거나 긁힌 흔적이 없어 너울에 부딪혀 전복됐을 가능성이 높아지고 있습니다.

해경은 돌고래호 선체를 하추자도에 있는 신양항으로 옮겨 정밀 감식을 통해 사고원인 조사와 선체구조 변경등에 대한 수사를 본격화 할 방침입니다.
