Province plans to collect more taxes from casinos
Local tax rate is currently about half of national average

The provincial government is looking to expand tax revenue by getting casinos to pay more.

A research team suggests the proper rate would be about 20 percent of the profits earned at casinos. Officials are now amending a special law and ordinances in order to adjust the tax rate.

Casinos currently pay 9.6 percent of their net profits in taxes. That’s about half of the national average of 18.6 percent.
