The provincial office and council are at odds over an ordinance amendment. The provincial office says it will not allocate grants unless the use for the funding is specified, but the council disagrees.

Dolgorae investigation on September 18, 19
A joint investigation into the Dolgorae is scheduled for Friday and Saturday to determine the cause of the fishing boat’s capsizing. The Jeju office of the Ministry of Public Safety says it happened after the engine was turned off.

Controversy over planned hotel near Jisatgae
(부영) Booyoung Housing is planning to build four hotel buildings near the (지삿개) Jisatgae Basalt Columns. The Jemin Ilbo says that if the company is issued a permit, the public view of the coastal landscape will be owned by the hotel.

There aren’t enough taxis at the Jeju International Airport at night, during very busy times, or on the weekend. Despite visitors’ complaints, authorities have yet to come up with a solution to the problem.

Body of another Dolgorae victim found
Yonhap is reporting that the body of someone missing from the Dolgorae was recovered Monday. The death toll is now at 12, while six people are still unaccounted for.

Daum Kakao denies rumor about mobile casino games
Daum Kakao said Monday it has no plans to tap into the mobile casino market. Rumors had it that Daum Kakao may launch gambling-related content on its entertainment platform linked to KakaoTalk, which has around 38 million users.
