Province announces plans for electric vehicles
Target: only EVs on local roads by 2030

The province has released medium and long-term plans to replace all of the cars on the island with electric vehicles by the year 2030.

There are currently about 1,700 electric cars on the island. The province’s target for 2020 is 135,000, and then it hopes to have 377,000 on island roads a decade later. That means all vehicles that run on traditional fuels would have to be phased out in the next decade and a half.

There are currently 930 normal-speed chargers and 79 quick-chargers on the island. By the year 2030, provincial authorities plan to boost those totals to 71,000 normal chargers and 4,300 quick-chargers.

The island plans to spend a total of 1.73 trillion won to meet all of its targets. That includes 1.2 trillion won in national funding and 450 billion won in provincial funding.

제주도가 2030년까지 전기차 100% 전환을 목표로 하는 중장기 종합계획을 발표했습니다.

제주도는 현재 1천 700여 대인 전기차 보급 대수를 2020년에는 13만 5천대로 늘리고 2030년까지 37만 7천대를 보급해 100% 전기차로 전환하는 계획을 확정했습니다.

특히 충전 인프라 확충을 위해 현재 930여 기인 완속 충전기는 2030년까지 7만 1천여 기로, 급속충전기는 79기에서 4천 300여 기로 확대 보급할 계획입니다.

제주도는 이를 위해 국비 1조 2천억원과 지방비 4천 500여 억 원 등 총 1조 7천 300억 규모의 투자계획도 마련했습니다.
