Jeju City, merchants resolve conflict
Had been at odds over Jungang Shopping Mall shop leases

Jeju City and the Jungang Shopping Mall merchants association have settled their differences over how leases for the shops will be renewed.

Representatives from both sides have signed an agreement on mutual cooperation. They also promised to secure public safety and cooperate in revitalizing businesses in the city’s old downtown neighborhoods.

Store leases will next be made through a negotiated contract. Then, after a three-to-five-year grace period following the revision of relevant ordinances, tenants will be selected through an open bidding process.

Also, city officials said they would shorten the renovation period of the mall in order to minimize the impact on the tenants.

제주시-지하상가 상인회, 재계약 갈등 일단락

제주시 중앙지하상가 개보수 공사 추진과 관련해 빚어졌던 재계약 문제 등 상인회와 제주시간 갈등이 일단락 됐습니다.

제주시는 오늘 중앙지하상가 상인회와 상호 협력 합의서를 체결하고 공공의 안전성 확보와 구도심 상권 활성화에 공동으로 노력을 기울여 나가기로 했습니다.

특히 점포 임대는 이번에 한해 수의계약으로 체결하고 관련 조례안이 개정되면 3년에서 5년동안 유예기간을 둔 후 공개경쟁 입찰로 전환하기로 했습니다.

제주시는 이와함께 시설 개보수 공사로 상인들의 피해가 최소화 될 수 있도록 공사 기간을 최대한 단축하기로 했습니다.
