‘Harvest moon to be visible on Chuseok’
Visible from Jeju 9 out of last 15 years

Forecasters say locals will be able to see the full moon on Chuseok.

The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration says a high pressure system will keep the skies clear, at least some of the time, from Saturday to Tuesday.

The moon will rise at 5:51 on Sunday.

It’s not every year that people on the island can see the harvest moon. It’s been visible nine times over the last 15 years, which works out to 60 percent of the time.

추석 명절 당일 제주지역에서는 맑은 하늘에 뜬 보름달을 볼 수 있을 것으로 전망됩니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면, 이번 추석 연휴기간에 제주지방은 고기압의 영향을 받아 대체로 맑은 날씨가 예상되고 있습니다.

추석 당일 제주시와 서귀포에서는 오후 5시 51분에 달이 뜰 것으로 예측됐습니다.

한편 지난 15년 동안 추석날 제주도에서 보름달을 볼 수 있었던 해는 60%인 9번으로 기록되고 있습니다.
