Jeju to be a U-20 World Cup venue
1,000 athletes from 24 countries will participate

In 2017 the FIFA World Youth Championship will be hosted by South Korea and Jeju has been selected as one of the venues.

The Federation Internationale de Football Association -- or FIFA -- selected six sites including stadiums in Jeju, Cheonan and Daejeon, while those in Seoul and Ulsan were excluded.

Ahead of the decision, a FIFA team inspected the Jeju World Cup Stadium’s training field in Seogwipo City, as well as accommodations and transportation facilities.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup will begin on May 20, 2017 with more than one-thousand participants from twenty-four countries.

오는 2017년 우리나라에서 열리는 20살 이하 월드컵의 개최도시에
제주가 포함됐습니다.

국제축구연맹 FIFA는 9개 후보 도시 가운데 제주와 천안, 대전 등
6개 도시를 개최지로 확정하고 서울과 울산 2개 도시는 제외했습니다.

앞서 FIFA 실사단은 서귀포시에 있는 월드컵경기장과 훈련장을 비롯해
숙소와 교통 시설 등을 점검했습니다.

FIFA 20살 이하 월드컵은 24개국에서 1천여 명이 참가한 가운데
2017년 5월 20일 개막합니다.
