74,000 ‘Youke’ expected on China’s National Day holiday
Officials hope to see rebound in numbers after MERS

Local authorities project that more than 70,000 Chinese tourists, or “Youke”(요커) will visit Jeju during China’s seven-day National Day holiday, which starts Oct.1st.

According to the Jeju Provincial Tourism Association, more than 74,900 Chinese tourists are likely to visit the island during China’s National Day holiday, which runs through the seventh.

This estimate is lower than the same time last year, but considering the aftermath of the deadly MERS outbreak on the mainland, local authorities are hoping to see strong numbers as Chinese nationals make the most of their holiday.

이는 지난해 국경절 연휴기간에 비해 줄어든 것이지만 최근 메르스 사태를 감안하면 이번 국경절을 계기로 중국관광객이 다시 활기를 찾을 것으로 기대를 모으고 있습니다.
