Jeju to greet 10 m visitors in record time
Increase attributed to more domestic flights

Experts project that the number of tourists visiting Jeju is likely to exceed 10 million in record time this year.

The Jeju Provincial Tourism Association estimates that 9.95 million tourists have visited Jeju from the first day of the year through Sept. 29th and that that number will reach 10 million around Oct 1st.

Compared to 2014, when Jeju exceeded 10 million visitors on Oct. 21st, this year’s record is 20 days earlier, making it the shortest on record.

Local tourism authorities are saying that the expansion of domestic flights may have significantly influenced this year’s numbers.

제주 방문 관광객수가 최단기간 1천만 명을 돌파할 전망입니다.

제주특별자치도관광협회는 올들어 어제(29일)까지 제주를 찾은 관광객은 995만 명으로 내일(1일)쯤 1천만 명을 넘어설 것으로 예상했습니다.

이는 지난해 1천만 명 돌파시점인 10월 21일보다
20일 빠른 것으로 역대 최단 기록입니다.

관광협회는 국내선 항공의 공급 좌석 증가에 따른
내국인 관광객이 크게 늘었기 때문으로 분석했습니다.
