Yongmeori Coast

We are at the Yongmeori coast in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo city, a major tourist attraction alongside Sanbang mountain, a unique mark of Jeju’s volcanic past.

However, after two tourists were injured due to a rockfall in November of 2014, access has been restricted at the accident site and the walking trail is currently divided into two. It is hard to look around the entire coast, since visitors are turned around before the area of the rock-fall.

Seogwipo city received approval from the Cultural Heritage Administration to install a bridge at the rock-fall area.

The bridge will span a length of 25 meters and a width of 2.8 meters connecting the end of each walking trail. When the bridge is linked, it will once again be possible to traverse the the entire length of the course.

The work has been ordered. We will sign a contract next week and construction will take about six months. It will be complete around the beginning of April.

지금 발주가 된 상태고요. 다음주쯤 계약 체결하고 180일 정도 소요되면 내년 4월초쯤 공사가 완료되겠습니다.

Local businesses have high expectations for the bridge construction project since business has been weakened due to a decreased number of visitors.

I think it is a good starting point...the city received permission from the Cultural Heritage Administration. The bridge will really improve things.

It has been a year since the incident, and they have just begun the bridge construction project recently.

But now comes the difficult task of protecting the cultural assets and considering tourists' safety and convenience.
