Authorities working on pine wilt-resistant black pines
Provincial government, Korea Forest Research Institute launch initiative

Authorities plan to develop a variety of black pine with a strong resistance to pine wilt.

The provincial government and the Korea Forest Research Institute will work on the project. Researchers will first look for trees with greater resistance and then collect seeds from them. Those will be grown into seedlings, which researchers will attempt to inoculate through direct injections of pine wilt.

The black pines that come through that process with a proven resistance to pine wilt will then be planted in areas that have been devastated by the infestation.
