Hangeul Proclamation Day events
Ceremonies, exhibitions, contests on Friday

There will be a variety of events around the island Friday to commemorate the 569th anniversary of the creation of Hangeul, the Korean writing system.

More than 250 people, including area residents and representatives of local organizations, are scheduled to participate in a ceremony at the Jeju Welcome Center.

Individuals and organizations will be awarded certificates during the ceremony for their efforts to promote proper Hangeul education and study how to preserve the Jeju language, which is disappearing over time.

Jeju National University’s Korean Culture Center will host a Korean speaking contest for foreign residents and immigrants at the Welcome Center. Also among the events: a calligraphy exhibition at Jeju Culture and Art Center.

제569돌 한글날 경축행사 '다채'

오는 9일, 제569돌 한글날을 기념한 다양한 경축행사가 열립니다.

제주웰컴센터에서 열리는 경축식에는 도내 주요 인사와 도민 등 250여 명이 참석할 예정입니다.

이날 경축식에서는 올바른 한글 교육과 사라져가는 제주어 보존 연구에 힘써 온
개인과 단체에 대한 표창이 수여됩니다. 아울러 제주대 국어문화원이 주최하는
외국인 한국어 말하기 대회 같은 장소에서 열리고
문예회관에서는 한글 서예 우수 작품 전시회도 마련됩니다.
