On the first weekend of October, many people make a point of visiting the island’s picturesque fields of eoksae (억새) or pampas grass. The sight and sound of them are both calming, and offer a classic Jeju scene.

“It hasn’t been long since I moved to Jeju and it’s my first time to come here. The weather’s nice, it’s not too cold or too hot, and my mother is visiting from the mainland. She loves it. The fields are so pretty...”

Visitors flocked to the pampas grass fields this past weekend to see the silvery-brown grass dance to the autumn breeze.

Surrounded by vast fields of eoksae(억새), visitors took pictures and created memories.
Many just came to wind down and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere offered by mother nature.

The first weekend of October offered many opportunities to greet the autumn season. The silvery-brown pampas grass fields were a scenic backdrop to venues and festivals being held across the island.
